How to add background image in Word?

There are several ways to insert an image as a background in Microsoft Word. in this article, we will explain three ways of adding an image as a background in Microsoft Word.

Add background image with watermark

Path: Design Tab > click on the “Watermark” in the “Page Background Group” > click on the “Custom Watermark” > click on the “Picture Watermark” > now you should browse your picture and insert it

Step-by-step guideline

Go to the design tab and click on the “Watermark”, Then click on the “Custom Watermark”.

The Print watermark window will appear when you click on the custom watermark.

In this dialog box, click on the Picture watermark radio button, then click on “select Picture”

It takes a few seconds to open the “insert picture”  window (click on the work offline if you don’t want to insert an image from OneDrive or search).

Browse your image on your computer and insert it.

Now the picture will insert into your document as a watermark.

Put background image with Page Color

Path: go to the Design tab > click on the “Page Color” from the background group > click on the “Fill Effects” > go to the “Picture” tab > browse your image and insert it

Step-by-step guideline

Step 2: Browse your image and insert it

Notice: This option will fill the background with your image. If the size of your image is smaller than the background size, Microsoft Word will automatically repeat the image to fill your background

How to insert background picture in Word on one page

Path: go to the Insert tab > click on the “Pictures” from the illustrations group > insert your picture > right-click on the picture and  > Warp Text > Behind the text

If you want to add a picture to one page, this is an easy and quick way. Also, you can drag and drop your image into the document.
